Craft Brewery Profile: Riverwalk Brewing Co.
While you can’t have a craft brewing company without feeling strongly about great-tasting beer, the Riverwalk Brewing Co. is a true labor of love. What started as a couple of guys brewing in a 3-gallon pot in a garage in Amesbury along the Riverwalk Trail has quickly become a craft-brewing phenomenon. Brewers painstakingly create all manner of new flavors and taste sensations, drawing inspiration from European masters, their own taste preferences and feedback from the Massachusetts craft beer-loving community.
In only five short years, this Newburyport brewery has become one of the most popular spots on any brewery tour agenda thanks to its great-tasting beers and clear passion for the craft of brewing. If you can make it over to 3 Graf Road in Newburyport, you may find yourself walking away with a new appreciation for craft brewing.
What’s on Tap?
Riverwalk Brewing Co. loves to make new beers, and you may never have time try them all. You should at least sample some of their signature brews, like Gnomad Farmhouse Ale, a meeting of European and American flavors with Belgian yeast, European malt and American hops. Try their Umbus Rye, a double IPA loaded with Columbus hops. You may also want to check out Riverwalk’s famous Tricoastal Belgian Ale, with a clean finish of soft, rounded citrus notes. The three coasts referenced include yeast from Belgium, El Dorado hops from the Pacific Northwest and the East Coast, where they put it all together for you.
Enthusiasts of lighter beers will enjoy the Screen Door Hoppy Summer Ale, a classic summer pale ale with delightful citrusy flavors, while darker beer enthusiasts will head for the Storm Door Porter, brewed with Madagascar vanilla and cinnamon, and full of traditional dark, English malts.
