Craft Brewery Profile: Medusa Brewing Company
Medusa Brewing Company is one of the newest and most exciting entries into the East Coast craft beer world, calling downtown Hudson, Mass., it’s home since 2015.
In addition to a great place for making beer, Medusa Brewing Company is a great place to have a beer. Its classic Beer Hall features hand-built mahogany wood tables and a 50-foot white oak and steel bar anchoring the tap room. Enjoy a crisp lager or a hoppy pale ale brewed under the auspices of a head brewer with more than 70 home brewing awards in an atmosphere made for beer-drinking.
What’s on Tap?
Medusa Brewing Company is proud to offer a collection of American, Belgian and German favorites, sometimes combined in one beer, like the Transcontinental, an American Pale Ale with American Citra, Bavarian Mandarina, German Hull Melon and Australian Vic Secret hops.
If you enjoy a light Belgian, try the fruity Trappist Good Omen. For German-style beers, there are a host of great options like the Siegfried, a crisp Kolsch, the Altigraph, a mellow German Altbier and Nachtlager, a smooth, chocolatey schwarzbier.
Of course, they have IPAs, like the Albatross!, with hops featuring tropical fruit, floral/citrus and peach/stonefruit notes and the Phaser Marmot, a strong Imperial IPA that builds on German wheat, Patagonian crystal and Maine-grown 2-row malt, with tons of hops including Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic, Vic Secret and Meridian, dry-hopped twice and not for the faint of heart.
Make Sure to Catch…
…fun, regularly scheduled events like Geeks Who Drink trivia night, “the biggest trivia game around,” every Wednesday night in the taproom from 7:30 to 9:30. Get your geek on, have a great time and win some cool prizes. The brewery also hosts open mic night every other Thursday starting at 7 p.m. (sign-ups at 6), where local musical talents perform 20-minute acoustic sets in the tap room for your enjoyment.
Even when there’s no special event going on, there’s always action in the tap room, which is open every day until 10:30 p.m., starting at 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and noon Friday through Sunday.
